Actualmente Torvalds es responsable de la coordinación del proyecto. Pertenece a la comunidad hablante de sueco de Finlandia (que también es oficial y hablado por aproximadamente el 6% de la población).

En 1988 Linus es admitido en la Universidad de Helsinki donde se gradua con el grado de maestría en Ciencias de la Computación. Ese mismo año el profesor Andrew S. Tannenbaum saca a la luz el S.O. Minix con propósitos didácticos. Dos años después, en 1990, Torvalds empieza a aprender el lenguaje de programación C en su universidad.

Volkswagen sincroniza los sistemas de tecnología de la información de sus marcas para ahorrar

El grupo alemán Volkswagen, primer fabricante de automóviles de Europa, pretende sincronizar los sistemas de tecnologías de la información que utilizan sus marcas, con el objetivo de reducir los costes del consorcio.

Así se puso de manifiesto en un encuentro de 70 responsables de tecnologías de la información del grupo celebrado en Dresde Alemania, en el que estuvieron representadas las marcas Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini y Volkswagen Vehículos Comerciales.

La multinacional con sede en Wolfsburg persigue orientar las tecnologías de la información a su estrategia de crecimiento, mediante la implantación de estándares comunes entre las diferentes marcas y divisiones de la empresa.
